Wheatland Senior Center Job Opportunity

The Town of Wheatland Senior Center is now accepting applications for a part-time Nutrition Aid for our Senior Center. This position is responsible for heating and serving food and related duties in a Nutrition Center for senior citizens. This position is not responsible for food preparation. Employees must obtain a valid food worker Level I certification (Food Handler in Charge) approved by the Monroe County Health Department during the probationary period or be separated from the position. This training and exam will be paid for by the Town of Wheatland.

The employee reports directly to and works under the general supervision of the Senior Center Coordinator/Recreation Coordinator. The Aid also does related recreational work as requested for the Senior Center. The applicant must enjoy working with senior citizens in a positive and fun environment. This position will be approximately 12 hours per week when the Senior Center re-opens. Typical hours are between 9:30am and 3pm.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (All need not be performed in a given position. Other related activities may be performed although not listed.)

  • Prepares kitchen area for daily food services.
  • Heats prepared and packaged meals delivered to the center.
  • Prepares beverages.
  • Serves food in accordance with established procedures.
  • Cleans kitchen equipment, utensils and food preparation area.
  • Washes silver, china, glassware, and kitchen utensils.
  • Cleans and sanitizes trays, tables and chairs.
  • Cleans kitchen and dining room area.
  • Freezes packaged meals for future use.
  • Records amounts of frozen meals and paper products on hand.
  • Orders weekly meals.
  • Orders monthly kitchen paper supplies.
  • Completes accident reports.
  • Handles the daily meal and dollar count.
  • Removes refuse from facility.
  • Directs and recruit volunteers.
  • Interacts positively with the participants.
  • Provides assistance, as needed, to the Coordinator.

Town of Wheatland – Building Reopening

The Town of Wheatland Municipal Building will be open to the public during regular business hours beginning Monday, May 10. There is no need to make an appointment before entering the building. We will still be practicing all of the necessary COVID-19 safety guidelines. Masks must be worn inside the building and hand sanitizer is available throughout the building. We have also increased the sanitizing of high touch surfaces to keep our staff and residents safe.

Please note some meetings will still be held in a remote format depending on the number of participants so we can follow social distancing requirements. Please refer to the meeting notice to determine if the meeting is in-person or remote. If you have any questions please contact the appropriate department at 889-1553.

Accepting Applications for Summer Camp Staff

The Town of Wheatland Recreation Department is now accepting applications for Summer Camp Counselors and Counselors In Training. Summer Camp Counselors must be 16 years old by June 1, 2021. Counselor In Training is a volunteer position and volunteers must be 15 years old by June 1, 2021. Applications are due by Monday, May 17 by 8pm. Applications are available in the Wheatland Chili High School Guidance Office, on the Town of Wheatland website or at the Town Hall . CM-6 Pipeline Replacement Project Begins

Rochester Gas and Electric Corporation (RG&E) has begun the CM-6 Replacement Project (Case 18-T-0388). This project includes the installation of new 24-inch steel pipeline from the existing stations in the Town of Chili along Chili-Scottsville Rd, to the station in the Town of Caledonia along Wheatland Center Rd.

Construction is expected to progress through the spring & summer and concluded in the fall of 2021. Residents will notice construction efforts and traffic control activities which will include, (Tree Clearing, Pipe hauling, top soil stripping, trenching and welding activities etc.…) these activities will occur on or around the following roads.

Trash Clean-Up & Brush Removal Spring 2021

TRASH CLEAN-UP SPRING 2021 TOWN OF WHEATLAND
NOTICE TO TOWN OF WHEATLAND RESIDENTS OUTSIDE THE VILLAGE OF SCOTTSVILLE

On Saturday, April 24, 2021 and Saturday, May 1, 2021 between the hours of 8 A.M. and 3 P.M. there will be dumpsters placed at the Highway Building,1822 Scottsville-Mumford Road. Town Outside Village Residents may bring trash to this location to dump in hoppers provided. Proof of residency will be required. New York State driver’s license is acceptable.

Recycling of electronics will also be available. All electronics can be recycled free of charge. Brush, Tires, Fuel Oil, Gasoline Drums, Refrigerators, Freezers or Paint Containers WILL NOT be accepted. Dumpsters will be manned for assistance.

BRUSH REMOVAL

The Town of Wheatland D.P.W. will pick-up brush at each resident’ s home. Brush pick-up will start on Monday, May 3, 2021. We will pick up the town residential areas first: a. Hamlet of Mumford b. Rolling Acres After the residential areas are done, we will start at the west end of Town and work east to cover the outlying areas. Brush must be neatly piled, butt ends in same direction 1 truck load per household Residential brush only No fence row material, such as trees or large stumps No brush over 6 inches in diameter ONCE A ROAD OR STREET IS DONE, THERE WILL BE NO RETURN TRIP.
