What services are provided?
Refuse and recycling are collected once each week on a designated collection day. Pick-up begins at 6:00 AM. To be serviced, the garbage container must be out behind the curb by 6:00 AM on collection day. Refuse shall be placed in the provided cans and recycling in the provided blue bins. Please keep trash containers covered and blue bin recyclables secure on windy days! Note the following important rules:
- There will be only one stop per parcel.
- Bulk items (e.g., household furniture, bedding and mattresses, etc.) may also be placed at the curb for collection.
- White goods, (e.g., refrigerators, stoves, etc.) will be picked separately. State law requires all doors be removed from refrigerators and freezers.
- Auto parts, including tires are not collected.
- Furnaces are not collected.
- Carpeting will be collected. It must be tied in bundles, no longer than 6 feet, no heavier than 50 lbs.
How is service obtained and what does it cost?
For residents that live outside the Village of Scottsville and that are located in a designated Town of Wheatland refuse collection district, refuse collection service is automatically provided, financed by a usage fee included in the general property tax bills.

Town of Wheatland refuse districts are currently serviced on Tuesday, holiday schedule below:

New Year’s Day – If holiday falls on either Monday or Tuesday, service is delayed one day. If holiday falls Wednesday – Sunday, there is no change and service will occur as usual.

Memorial Day – Service delayed one day this week.

Independence Day – If holiday falls on either Monday or Tuesday, service is delayed one day. If holiday falls Wednesday – Sunday, there is no change and service will occur as usual.

Thanksgiving – No change to normal schedule.
